Amber Hard says she faces harassment, humiliation, threats every day.
Washington, USA:
“Aquaman” star Amber Hard said on Thursday that she had received thousands of death threats during a “painful” defamation trial between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
“I face harassment, humiliation, threats every single day,” said Hard, 36, on the final day of witness testimony at the Fairfax, Virginia blockbuster trial near the U.S. capital.
Hard says he has been the target of a social media campaign by “millions” of “Pirates of the Caribbean” star’s fans and is suffering from panic attacks, nightmares and trauma.
“People want to kill me and they tell me that every day,” he told the jury. “People want to put my baby in the microwave and they tell me.
“I regularly receive hundreds of death threats, if not every day, since the trial began. Thousands, thousands of people have ridiculed my testimony about being humiliated,” the actress said.
“It’s the most painful, the most painful, the most humiliating thing I’ve ever had to go through,” he said. “I just want Johnny to leave me alone.”
Depp fans attended the six-week trial every day, some of whom lined up for hours overnight to secure one of the confined spaces in the public gallery.
Judge Hardy threatened to expel the audience during Hardy’s emotional testimony on Thursday.
“If I hear one more word, I will clear the gallery and we will continue this testimony without anyone in the courtroom,” Azcaret warned. “Understood?”
‘Foreign’
Hard’s testimony came a day after Depp took the stand, saying his ex-wife had been “unimaginably brutal” to hear “heinous” and “foreign” allegations of domestic abuse.
“No man is perfect, of course not, neither are we, but I’ve never in my life been sexually abused, physically abused,” said Depp, 58.
Depp said he took legal action because “I have been reluctant for six years, carrying what I have behind me.”
Hard, who was married to Depp from 2015 to 2017, received a restraining order against her then-husband in May 2016, citing domestic violence.
Depp, a three-time Oscar nominee, filed a defamation suit against the British tabloid The Sun in London for calling her a “wife-beater”. He lost that case in November 2020.
Depp sued Hard at Fairfax for an op-ed he wrote for the Washington Post in December 2018, in which he described himself as a “public figure representing domestic violence.”
The Texas-born hardcover did not name Depp, but sued him for being a domestic abuser and seeking $ 50 million in damages.
Asked for 100 100 million and claimed he had suffered “massive physical violence and torture.”
He said Thursday that his counter-claim was a bid to restore his voice and name.
“Johnny has taken my voice enough,” he said. “I have the right to tell stories.”
The last argument on Friday
During the trial, which began on 11 April, Hard testified to multiple incidents of alleged physical and sexual abuse by an intoxicated Depp, including sexual assault with a bottle while in Australia.
Depp claims that Hard was often violent during their relationship and once threw a bottle of vodka at him and cut off the tip of one of his middle fingers.
Both sides have claimed the loss of their Hollywood careers.
Hard’s legal team has presented an entertainment industry expert who estimates that the actress lost চলচ্চিত্র 45-50 million for lost movie and TV roles and approvals.
An industry expert hired by Depp says the actor has lost millions for the sixth installment of “Pirates” due to allegations of abuse, including a salary of $ 22.5 million.
The case is set to be finalized on Friday, after which the case will go to a jury of seven.
