The graphic novel treatment is given in the biography of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky – from comedian to wartime leader – in the latest biography of Tidalwave comics “Political Power: Volodymyr Zelensky”.
The 22-page gloss, set for release on Friday, tells the story of how Mr Jelensky, who once played the fictional president on a TV show, came to power in 2019 with a promise to end the war with Moscow-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine. He had no political experience as the country’s sixth president.
Writer Michael Frizel said: “Who is he? What ticks him? Why is he the right leader for Ukraine at the moment? I was curious about them when I started researching.”
Artist Pablo Martinena also painted biographies of David Beckham, Nelson Mandela and Donald Trump.
“This book means a lot to me because of my Ukrainian heritage,” US-based publisher Darren G. Davis said in a statement.
“Both sets of my grandparents immigrated from Ukraine. I wanted to use this medium not just to tell a story, but to donate in some way at the same time.”
A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
