A Florida deputy climbed out of an apartment building on Saturday morning to rescue a one-year-old girl from a fire, and the dramatic scene was captured by the deputy. Body cameraOfficials said.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that the child and his mother were fighting to escape after a fire broke out on the islands of the East Millennial Complex.

Deputies responded to the scene just before 4:15 a.m. and saw the mother and child see a blaze from the apartment on the third-floor porch, the press release said.

Deputy William Pujinski climbed onto the second-floor porch, grabbed the baby from his mother and lowered him to the ground to other deputies, the video shows.

“Just before he climbed into the building, Deputy Pujinski took off his heavy outer ballistic vest – with his camera attached – to make it easier for him to climb. It was an amazing turn of events that the camera was able to capture what happened next, “the release said.

A fire broke out in an apartment complex in Orange County, Florida early Saturday morning.

“When I came here, we saw that the building was completely covered. There was chaos everywhere, “Pujinsky told CNN-affiliated WKMG.

“Later when mom came and found me, she actually hugged me, so it was rewarding,” he said. “It simply came to our notice then. Some nights you go home, and you don’t really know if you’ve made a difference, but in that case you feel it. ”

The baby’s mother and grandmother were rescued using a ladder, the sheriff’s office said. No casualties were reported and no deputies were injured in the blaze, officials said.
