Prime Minister Modi has highlighted the possibility of Indian investment during his visit to Japan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Nobuhiro Endo, head of Japan’s multinational information technology electronic giant NEC Corporation.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) India tweeted that Prime Minister Modi “highlighted India’s reform drive. He spoke of opportunities in areas such as digital education, fintech, infra and logistics networks.”

The External Affairs Ministry (MEA) said in a statement that PM Modi appreciated NEC’s role in India’s telecommunications sector, particularly in taking over the Chennai-Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) and Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands (KLI) OFC projects.

He also highlighted the investment opportunities under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

“They discussed various reforms adopted in India to facilitate business, including industrial development, taxation and labor,” the statement said. “They also discussed opportunities in India in new and emerging technologies.” Mr. Endo talks about India’s opportunities in areas such as smart cities, emerging technologies and an innovative endeavor to learn Japanese in India.
