The 18-year-old died in the United States after a sand dune dug a hole by Frisbee

An 18-year-old man was killed when he was crushed under sand in the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, police said. After the incident, the young man’s sister was trapped in the sand, police said.

The incident happened when Levi Caverley was digging a hole with a Frisbee on a beach with his 17-year-old sister. According to a Facebook post by police, it crashed on the two just after 4 p.m.

“At approximately 4:09 PM, police and EMS were dispatched to the beach entrance near Sea View Road in Barrier Island because it collapsed around them during the excavation and the teenagers were trapped in the sand. Multiple police units, EMS are currently at the scene. Please do not respond in the area, ”the police post said.

Brother and sister spent their afternoons with family on Ocean Beach III, a private beach.

The 17-year-old girl, who was rescued by first responders, was treated at the crash site. It took rescuers two and a half hours to pull Cavarley out of the sand Asbury Park Press.

It was finally released at 6.45 pm.

Emergency services from the surrounding area also assisted in the rescue operation, and were thanked by the Thomas River Police Department.

This is not the first such collapse in the United States. In July 2020, Belmar police, lifeguards, rescuers and firefighters rescued a boy from a collapsed sand dune, the report added.

In 2015, a 12-year-old boy was pulled from a collapsed hole in Surf City, North Carolina.
